14 Creative Fire Pit Landscaping Ideas for Your Backyard (1)

If you’re looking for a unique twist on the traditional fire pit, why not try creating a “Bowl of Fire”?

Instead of building a large pit in the ground, use a metal bowl as your base. Then, arrange wood or charcoal in the center to create a beautiful and contained fire.

Not only will this add some visual interest to your backyard gatherings, but it’s also easier to clean up and transport than a standard fire pit.

Plus, the smaller size makes it a safer option for families with young children.

So break out the marshmallows and gather around your new “Bowl of Fire” for an evening of flames and fun.

Natural Stone Fire Pits

If you want a more natural outdoor look, consider building one out of natural stones. Not only does this add visual interest to your outdoor space, but it also blends in seamlessly with the surrounding environment.

You can easily buy them from a landscaping or masonry supply store. Stack and arrange them in a circular shape, leaving an opening for the fire.

This DIY project can take some effort and time, but the end result is definitely worth it.

Plus, the natural stone retains heat well and can be used for cooking over an open flame. So get creative with your next fire pit design and choose the natural stone option.

Hello! 👋 I’m going to be honest. I was quite glad of the social media meltdown last night. I was trying to post this picture and talk about how my knitted grey cardigan had come out of the wardrobe which to me signified autumn had officially started and that we only use this firepit in the colder months. After several attempts, I hopped over to Twitter to find out what was going on with Instagram and I just put my phone down and walked away. I went to bed early and read a book and it was blissful! 😂😂
.
.
I’ve been finding Instagram such a struggle recently, I mean. Who wants to know that my grey knitted cardigan is out of the wardrobe FFS?! 4 years of making small talk on here has really taken its toll. I have nothing new to show, I can’t keep up with all the DIYing and consistent redecorating on here even though we are going through a big renovation at the moment. How do people find the time?!? 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 I’ve been told I’m being unfollowed because I’m no longer interesting and keep posting the same stuff (quite difficult to churn out new content when you effectively live on a building site), that I’m all buy, buy, buy (ironic really as I’ve hardly bought anything for the new house but have sold and donated a lot of stuff to charity) and my personal favourite, I need to learn to become a better parent and not feed my kids sticky rice balls.
.
.
Sorry, this wasn’t meant to turn into a rant!! Just letting of steam 😂😂😂😂 I still love this little app, the people I’ve met through here. The LOLs I’ve had, the daily chats. But it’s also nice when it all comes crashing down and I can take a step away and not have to justify myself for existing in this social media world. Essay over…. 😘😂

Food gardening remains trendy for yet another year but really – aren’t veggie gardens classic?

I love that this one is incorporated into the outdoor living space and not hidden far away. When they’re placed close by you stay connected to them, use them and take better care of them. Plus veggie gardens are beautiful with the proper placement and design!

You’d be surprised how much food can be grown in boxes such as these! I like to use the square food garden method – this way you use every little bit of space within the beds and harvest when plants like lettuces and herbs are young.

I am a lettuce lover so this is the most important crop for my home garden. I plant some rows of lettuce plugs after the frost date and also sow a few rows of lettuce seeds as succession crops at the same time. This way, when the plug lettuces have been harvested, the seeds lettuces are ready, next in line. I plant two rows of lettuce seeds every two weeks so that I have delicious garden lettuce all summer long. I even plant some cool-weather lettuce seed like Arugula in mid spring and September to prolong the season.

Did you get your veggie garden planted yet?

The fire pit has been such a great addition to this corner of our property. It not only expanded our outdoor living space options, but I love to sit here, night or day, among the flowers overlooking the backyard gardens. Even at night, the beds look beautiful! And while I sit here, I’m thinking I want to tuck in some white blooming flowers in the berry garden so they look like they are glowing at night. What do you think I should plant? 🤔🌸🌿

Five more days until the new year... and I’m sharing my 5th most popular post of 2020. You guys loved this outdoor space from sunsetmag. With all of us spending so much time at home this year, it’s easy to see why we were all inspired by this awesome backyard.
.
And, with five days left, 2020 is coming in with one last parting shot at our house. Our dog Mazie tore her ACL/CCL yesterday. So, she’s going in for surgery the first part of the new year and we’re looking at 8 weeks of strict crate rest and a 12 week recovery. She should be recovered at the same time we’re moving into the new house. If any of you have been through this with your dog, please send any and all advice/tips!

This council circle enveloped with rhododendrons, Hakonechloa and several Cornus florida that we designed together with Marcel Silkens- marcelsilkens - circa 10 years ago remains a favorite. It’s strength lies largely in its simplicity and restraint, clean lines and a limited palette.

Today’s Blog Post is all about throwing a party in your garden and some ideas and themes. We absolutely love having people over and one of our favourite garden parties is throwing a Eurovision Song Contest Party. Everyone chooses a country that has entered and they have to come dressed up, with food and drink from that country. Previous efforts have included friends coming dressed as the Von Trapps with a cheese fondue for Switzerland and dressing as ABBA with meatballs and Aquavit for Sweden. Such fun!! Me and Mr B always dress up as the hosts, I wear a ballgown and Mr B bought a sparkly jacket especially for the occasion with a Terry Wogan mask. We then announce everyone’s arrival over the karaoke machine and they have to do a dance or song before they’re allowed a drink! 😂😂😂
.
.
We won’t be doing it this year as our new house isn’t really a great entertaining space at the moment, but once we’ve renovated we’ll be holding ALL the parties 💃 💃 Totally unrelated to this image but I guess I do miss this space at the moment. Do you have themed parties?

PENDING … warm glowy nights ✨

I know we should never wish time away, but I have honestly been dreaming of nights in the garden since last summer 😂 anyone else, or is it just me?

The garden renovation is without a doubt a project I feel so proud of. Every bit of blood, sweat and tears that went into this was totally worth it, I still pinch myself that we made our Mediterranean garden of dreams come to life 🥹

The outdoor kitchen is honestly the best addition for hosting. We went for a built in bbq and opted for a pizza oven too, so we have a couple of options for cooking! The sunken seating area is super practical as it seats 15 people and with it being lower, keeps the wind off you later in the evening!

We made so many amazing memories with friends and family out here last year…. I’m so ready to do it all over again 🥰 CAN YOU JUST HURRY UP NOW ALREADY!?

Ps. DIY outdoor dining table reel coming soon too 🙌🏼
