The famous Wahlburgers hamburger meat is now available in your local grocery store. They are so proud of the blend of angus beef that they use in their restaurant, that on the top of the menu above the burgers it reads: “Our fresh angus beef is a proprietary blend of brisket, short rib & chuck”.
It’s pretty unusual to see something like this in your fresh meat case. Typically licensed products show up frozen (it appears there are also frozen patties available as well). To me this shows a dedication to quality meat.
Let’s skip the Wahlburg family history and get right to the point of the Wahlburgers ground beef patties review.
Are the Wahlburger Angus Beef Patties worth while?
The cost: at $9.99 per pound these are a lot more expensive than 80 – 20 CAB angus ground chuck which comes in at only 5.99 per pound. Regular ground beef is currently almost half of that. A blend of chuck and brisket accounts for some of this price difference. The rest is probably the Wahlburg premium. Note: the fat to meat ratio is not listed on the package (leaner meat is more expensive).
The package is 1.33 pounds and cost us $13.29. It contains 4 patties that are slightly less than a 1/3 of a pound (cost of 3.33 per burger). This certainly makes them larger than your typical premade hamburger. The patties appear to be a medium grind as a result should provide a more meaty texture.
Wahlburger Angus Beef Patties are not seasoned, nothing but meat in this package. We will season them with our favorite seasoning and grill them up.
On our gas grill they shrunk up enough to make me think that this is a 70-30 blend. The shrink was very noticeable affecting the size a lot more than the thickness.
The Taste Test:
I was pleasantly surprised with the Wahlburger angus ground beef patties. They had a great flavor and enough of a chew to know it was beef you were eating. This is the burger flavor you would expect from a higher end burger joint.
Wahlburgers Ground Beef Patties Review the Bottom Line:
While these were some excellent burgers, the price is a bit off putting to me. This is one of the better hamburger meats you can find. If money is no object go for it or wait for them to be on sale. Would I buy them again? Yes, only if they were on sale.

I had to buy these as nothing else was on the shelf because of the virus…never again is all I’ll say. I grilled them and I’ve never seen more grease come out of a piece of meat, it was awful. Taste??? Nothing special…don’t waste your money…even tho this bonehead reviewer says they are good they’re not, he’s paid to say so tho

Lmao. You’ve obviously never made a hamburger PROPERLY before. These are some of the better tasting pre-made patties. Are there better? Sure. You’re obviously doing something wrong for them to not taste good. Probably burning them into a hockey Puck instead of a proper medium or over medium cook.

Needing burgers was also forced to pay this steep price because the store was sold out of everything else. Tho the taste was great they were very fatty which accounted for the shrinkage…so ended up ultimately paying more money for more fat. In these times of financial hardship the price really stung. While I normally buy 3 four packs at a time could only buy 2 because of the price…so unless it can’t be helped I’ll never buy these again as at least for me they’re un-affordable.

Yeah I cooked mine on my cast iron grill and it was delicious. But I like my burger medium/well. Hubby likes his medium/rare but I can’t seem to ever get it right, I always overcook his. Once i undercooked it coz I was afraid to over cook it and have him yell at me. How the heck is one supposed to know, unless I cut it to look inside

Just grilled four, two for me and two for spouse. We enjoyed them very much! Cheese, bacon, onion, pickle, mustard, ketchup! Better when the juices are still flowing, but pretty good well done too. Grill on Weber kettle using Cowboy Lump Charcoal (oak & hickory). First two were on grill about 7 minutes, last two were on grill “warming” (half grill had the charcoal, other half no charcoal) while we enjoyed the first two. Highly recommend even at cost of $2.25 per 1/3 pound pattie!

I waited all these years for Wahlburgers to come to my city and what a disappointment it was the worst Burger I ever had,it was over price when the cashier told my total of$19.03 I said to the cashier I can buy steak dinner for that price and they even screwed up my burger and they didn’t put any of my toppings that I ask for on my burger and the onion rings were cold I told the manager that I won’t come back and only thing you are paying for is the family name Wahlburgers.

There is a reason they hide the fat to meat ratio….It’s higher than any burger should be for that insanely high price….also mine fell apart as I tried to lay them on my grill.
Bottom line — They charge a lean premium price (96/4) for a fatty ass burger by hiding the ratio deliberately so dupes can purchase the product that carries their B-List name (one of the older tricks in the book).
“But what about the burger?” — The burger was good in terms of taste, even though I had to eat it in bites since it fell apart on my grill. It was definitely not worth the exorbitant price.

I tried the cheddar jalapeño burgers, they had an odd texture, I think they came with freezer burn. Made them the day I purchased them. The cheddar was the overriding flavor really could not taste the bacon or the jalapeño. They were an odd gray color even though I attempted to cook them medium rare.
I would not buy these again even if they were on sale. I think these guys should stick to actingReply
I was excited to try product at home. I bought product on Sunday and cooked on Monday. The product was well within the date of freshness. When opening the package a distinct odor of cow manure filled the air. I doublechecked dates and decided to cook anyway. That was a mistake as the aroma of dung radiated through my home. As i tried to quit gagging i determined there was something wrong. I stl have 2 burgers that look great but i will not cook again. I am totally disappointed. I love the restaurants but will not EVER buy the raw product again.

I enjoyed the burgers they were superb the very reason I’m on this website have been looking all over for them. Too bad not a site in Indiana when infact I gotta couple packages from my local food assistance pantry.. If I had my way I’d only buy their meat but since I cant find them anywhere here I guess I’ll have to settle with the regulars

I have no idea where these negative comments are coming from… These are the best burgers I have ever eaten in my life! I am a former Sous Chef and I still cook at home on a regular basis, so I like to think that I know quality meat. Now, I do realize that tastes are subjective, but I would to believe that outside of the price, people would still agree these are great burgers. Well, no matter, I like them and that’s all that counts! Plus, my local Aldi started carrying these, so I got them for $6.90 a pop, so I purchased 8 packages – I still would have paid full price for these! The nice discount leaves me me with 32 patties in my freezer, so that should last me about a couple of weeks!

I’m not sure what version of burger some people ate but I purchased the chuck brisket blend of 4 pattys and it was absolutely amazing. I cook with cast iron and in my opinion it is the best way to get the true taste of the meat without any extreme char or smoke profile. I also didn’t add any seasoning either. Since this was a new purchase for me I wanted to taste the meat without adding anything extra. We put a slice of Colby cheese on them and they were absolutely amazing. The flavor profile was more than I could have expected. These are not plain crappy ground beef burgers, they do cost more but your getting something amazing for that extra cost. I had a minute amount of oil in my skillet after cooking. They don’t list the meat to fat percentage but from the rendered fat that was leftover I’d say these burgers were around 90 percent lean. Would definitely buy again….absolutely….. 100%.

Tried these today for the first time and LOVED them! $9.99 for package of 4. As far as I am concerned, $2.50 per burger is CHEAP. I flattened them out a bit, to make them look morre “rustic” before cooking – very little shrinkage. Added a bit of salt and pepper. Cooked on my gas grill over high heat for @ 5 minutes per side, topped with cheese and basic condiments. Flavor was excellent.

Got the brisket mix burgers, wasn’t going to use them right away, so separated two patties and wrapped in press and seal , then in a bag. Took two out last night for dinner. They did shrink up more than expected for the price, and lots of grease. I should have pressed them down before cooking. I added seasoning. Ate them medium well. They had a good flavor. And texture. I would buy them again. We only eat one each, and don’t eat out much, so I think worth the $9.99.

Love the Wahlburger Fresh Angus patties! I forgot how good they are!!
I have been staying away from meat for a while, doing the whole intermittent fasting and dieting thing. But since it was Memorial Day this past weekend I bought a package for myself (everyone else still basically vegan) and I could not believe the flavor and size of each pattie even after cooking. Going to keep buying more every once in a while, gotta start eating plants again..On a side note, if any of you Wahlberg’s are reading this we had been taking the kids each year up to Wahlburger’s in Hingham except for the 2020 COVID year and definitely will be going back this summer too. Coming from central CT we’d spend a day up there, (great place for ice-cream after lunch is Nona’s in Hingham), anyway great job Wahlberg family on the store bought meats, the comfort of your restaurants and all your successes. Bring back the reality show and Donnie still love Blue Bloods keep it going.. and Mark, loved your “Marky Mark” Memorial Day themed movies this past weekend !

So not worth the buying. Jewel had their 85 – 15 ground beef for $2.99 per pound. They were out of their fresh ground beef (shopped early Sunday morning), so meat department manager gave me Walburgers at that price. We could not find lean-fat ratio on packaging. He read aloud Amercan Style Kobe Blend and explained it was well aged. I grilled one within an hour of purchasing. I had to drain off the grease twice. I believe the fat was 30%. After adding a bit of salt and pepper, I ate it like a steak (unadorned). Even my cat would not eat the bits of gristle I spit out (and he loves bits of burgers). I plan to cook up the rest, drain, and add to my spaghetti sauce. Do Not waste your money.

Just bought and made these burgers, well the sliders and omg ! By far one of THE BEST store bought burger!! I absolutely recommend….I will definitely be buying this often !!

I picked up a pack of 6 frozen patties from Jewel-Osco for ~ $14. I just baked mine in a cast-iron skillet in the conventional oven for 30 min @ 350F. The patty gave off a lot of fat which soaked into the buns later. I think most of the taste is in the fat so I always soak my buns in the fat.
It turned out to be perfect! I’d buy again. Yes, these are pricey but I don’t eat burgers every day (I’m mostly on a vegetarian diet) and the 6 patties will last me a month or so.

Mine did not have any weird, hard, gristle. It was the main thing I noticed. Maybe they listened to the complaints. This meat was so smooth and delicious. Love how thick they are and they keep their shape. Got the sliders and felt comfortable eating them with a pink juicy middle. Definitely would buy again!

Currently at Winn-Dixie’s in South Florida, West Palm Beach area they are priced at $9.99 but come with a bonus 500 points which is valued at five dollars for buying them so I think I will be stocking up just to try it.

These are HANDS down the best burgers I have EVER found at a grocery store! I found them at Aldi’s for an awesome price, $6.99 for a 4 pack. I personally had no noticeable shrinkage. I sliced up an onion, browned them in butter, then cooked the burgers in the cast iron pan with the onions/butter. I used Aldi’s Brioche Burger Buns (grilled) & topped with Swiss. My Husband & Son went CRAZY!! Have tried multiple other “Angus Burgers” and NOTHING compares!

I just purchased these and I can say I was very pleased..added a Cajun mesquite habenaro seasoning with a siracha horseradish aioli butter lettuce and raw sweet onion … They were absolutely delicious. All the flavor profiles along with the Angus beef flavor were on point… I WILL buy again

Fresh ones bad, frozen ones good. I bought these for the first time at a local Cleveland area Giant Eagle about a week or so ago. Were on sale for $9.59, was a buck off. The box stated “House Blend – Certified Angus Beef”. Expiration date was 8/16/21, and I opened them on 8/12, a couple days after I bought them. They looked good and fresh, good color, and felt OK, not slimy, BUT a strong ammonia like smell as well as a over-ripe fruit sweet type smell. Since I had the coals going and I was really hungry, I threw one on the grill. Turned a pinkish-tan color on the outside, not a deeper color that should come with a grilled burger. Ended up throwing it away, and tool the rest back the next day for a refund. NOW, I bought frozen bacon and cheese Angus Wahlburgers a couple weeks before these, and they are pretty decent.

I bought 2 different flavor packages of hamburger patties and I cannot find anything negative to say about them. I made Salisbury steaks and my husband I I really thought they were flavorful. Otherwise we have grilled some with added seasoning our preference, but will continue to purchase them.

Bought the Burgers a couple times and both times when peeling back the plastic, an unexplainable smell of sulfer (rotten egg smell) comes out of the package. Dates were fine, kept cold and looked fine. Ended up throwing away both times. Dont know if it some kind of preservative or something but dont plan on buying again. Total turn off.

I was so excited to see these in the grocery store- Publix in Atl. I love these guys but the burgers were terrible. Too much grease. It developed a crunchy coating. I cooked the regular time you would cook a burger. I cooked one on the grill and one in a frying on the stove. I took a bite of both. Disgusting. I was so disappointed.

Tried the burger right after I purchased them in Publix Spmkt in Winter Garden, FL.
The 1st burger was not worth the packaging it came in, after cooking on a grill pan the burger shrunk and the meat had a consistency of a wet sponge.
Following day, I cooked #2 and that was a definite failure. Tried to disguise it in ketchup, no salvation.
Not worth the money, especially now when all prices are skyrocketing during the pandemic.
I have 2 more burgers in freezer, any takers? I won’t be eating them soon or later.Reply
Daughters sweet 16. $11for four. I bought 10 packs as that was all they had in stock. Plus boars head apple chicken Brats. The kids ate all the burgers. No seasoning no bullsh*t! If you like beef you will like these burgers. Grill them up let the fat drip off med. well for the kids. If they are falling apart stop flipping them so much!! Only thing we were missing was the WAHLBURGS!!

Purchased Wahlburgers Gourmet Fresh Angus Burgers at Stop & Shop in West Hartford, CT. Got sucked in with the word Gourmet and thought I was in for real treat.
Probably the worst burger I ever consumed. Tough as shoe leather and tasteless.
Would never buy again. Not only was I disappointed with the burger itself, after reading the label and seeing 57% Saturated Fat and 2 grams of Trans fat with 105mg of cholesterol, I almost shoved my finger down the throat.Reply
I bought the Bacon, cheddar& jalapeno only because they were on sale and nothing else was available. Flavorless burger , you cannot taste any cheese , maybe a little flavorless fake bacon. I cooked these patties in a cast iron pan and the cheese tried to bleed out in cooking and they were very dry surprising since they claim to be a quality burger. Buy your own beef and make a true quality product at home. We were served better hamburgers in the Army chow hall.

I just cooked 4 of the Angus burgers, first off they smelled like I was cooking a horse, I cannot get that smell out of my mouth and nose, like the smell of a human corpse, you’ll never forget it!
It was the grossest thing I ever ateReply
First time buyer. I thought they were quite tasty… I prefer grass fed beef though…

Recently purchased at Stop and Shop in CT. I only bought them because they where marked down “ a managers special”. I have to say they weren’t that great so much grease came out of them. I have to say the BK impossible burger was so much better and Wendy’s burger. Not worth the money – sorry Mark and Donnie

I bought my first package of 4 Prime burgers on a Friday. They looked big and red and possibly juicy. I took them home and put them right in the fridge. Sunday when to the store and bought some really fresh rolls lettuce and tomatoes. Time to cook! Pulled out the box of burgers that I paid $14.99 for and they were GREY! I really couldn’t believe it. Poked a small hole in the corner of the package and the smell was horrifying. According to the stamp for use by date the product still had 4 days left! So back to the store for my refund. Never again!

We have tried various brands and grades of ground beef in the last couple years and found the Wahlburger patties the best ever!! Since the pandemic it seems like the meat quality has really went down while prices are through the roof. We don’t mind paying the price for the Wahlburger beef as we are actually enjoying every bite!!

My husband bought these burgers at the grocery store tonight. Boy I was so grossed out so much grizzel .I couldn’t eat it.

I was quite disappointed in these burgers. When I opened the package, there was no fresh beef scent that I get even from my grocer’s ground beef. There was very little flavor, and there was gristle and some pieces that I could not chew. I could not even finish the burger because it was unpleasant. I do not plan to purchase these again.

Was excited to try these. I love the restaurant, and the frozen patties. I bought a big thing of portabella mushrooms, and swiss cheese from the deli. I made the hamburgers, and they seemed really fatty. They shrank up a lot. I put the mushrooms, and swiss cheese on them. While they didn’t taste that bad. They had a crap ton of gristle in them. Every bite had at least 6 pieces of gristle in it, and I’m not talking about little pieces. I had a pile of gristle 2 inches around, and a ¼ inch thick. From just eating 1 hamburger. After the meat, mushrooms, and cheese. I had around $5 in each hamburger. I’ve never in my 43 years of life. Had such a crappie hamburger. I wouldn’t sell these at McDonald’s, and I haven’t eaten there since I was young. The others got thrown in the trash. Don’t waste your money.

My wife and I have purchased the black Angus burgers a couple of times. The Wallaburgers are excellent. My wife is quite fussy about her burgers and she loves them and so do I.
The old saying is you pay for what you get.
The cost is well worth the taste. We will continue to buy the 4 pack of burgers from Publix’s grocery store flowers NC. Thanks for the wonderful delicious product.Reply
One of the most disgusting frozen burgers I have ever had. The look, the smell the shrinkage, I cooked 2 took a bite and was totally shocked how bad the taste and the texture was. I chopped it up and gave it to my dog who only took a couple bites and walked away. Talk about using a family name to sell garbage.

I grilled four patties at a time and was so surprised to see how much fat was rendered after grilling them to just medium. They were basically bland in flavor and a couple of them had these very hard, chewy pieces of gristle within the burger. It was pretty gross considering the price and the supposedly better cuts of beef they’re made with. I think it’s just a lot of hype because of the name, but honestly I think Wendy’s burgers from the dollar menu taste better. It’s a total ripoff!

I forgot about the purchase of my wahlburger burgers unfortunately they ended up in the back bottom of my fridge in the drawer. I bought them in May it is now August! They are still very pink like I bought them yesterday! Ughhh I hate to ask because duhhh buttt…do you think they are bad?!?
